WAVE- Subtle Shifts, Bold Statements
WAVE a project at SCAD, I explored flatbed printing on soft lambskin leather to create a collection of designs focused on basic shapes and dynamic color-changing effects. The designs feature a striking interplay of pink and purple hues, which shift as the swatch is turned, creating a visually captivating experience. My goal was to develop a subtle yet luxurious aesthetic, ideal for use in high-end bags and accessories. The juxtaposition of clean geometric patterns with the soft texture of lambskin enhances the sense of sophistication and refinement, embodying both minimalism and opulence.
Development process
The project began with designing patterns in Rhino, focusing on simple yet impactful shapes that would enhance the interplay of color and texture. Using flatbed printing technology, I incorporated precision and detail to bring these designs to life on lambskin leather. I also utilized KeyShot for rendering and visualizing the final outcomes during the design phase. This combination of digital tools and hands-on techniques allowed me to ensure the prints adhered seamlessly to the material, while maintaining the intended dynamic color-changing effect.
To illustrate the versatility of these designs, I created digital mockups of bags showcasing the color-shifting patterns. These demonstrate how the prints enhance accessories with a touch of elegance and innovation, perfectly suited for luxury products.
